In a season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops ranked the top 30 girls. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county and counted down until we got to #1. We hope you enjoyed the countdown as we honored the best of the best.
#2
Grace Hintz, sophomore, Lynden Christian
WHY SHE’S #2: Setting a school record for points in a season is impressive enough, but when that school has the most successful girls basketball program in state history, you know it’s someone special. Hintz was certainly special, averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals a game. But for the unassuming 5-foot-9 guard, it’s not just about being able to make any kind of shot from anywhere within 20 feet, it’s about making them in pressure situations, which she did repeatedly the past two seasons in leading the Lyncs to a state title in 2022 and a state runner-up finish this past March. Hintz was named to the all-Northwest Conference first team, the all-state tournament first team, and the Scorebook Live Class 1A all-state first team.
COACH BRADY BOMBER: “Grace loves the game of basketball and is talented beyond her years. She has worked hard to become a very skilled player. Grace is a good shooter who can score points quickly from anywhere on the floor, and she made big shots in big games for us.”
