#29
Brie Smith, senior, Blaine
WHY SHE’S #29: There are other players on the list whose importance to their team go beyond their stats, but none were playing their first season of school basketball in more than three years. Already a three-sport standout (volleyball, bowling, and softball), Smith joined a young and inexperienced Borderites team, and as its lone senior became its emotional leader, averaging more than 4 points and 5 rebounds a game and even at 5-foot-7, often tasked with battling the other team’s best inside player. The school recognized her character and commitment naming her its girls 2024-25 Northwest Conference sportsmanship student-athlete.
COACH VIC WOLFFIS: “Brie embraced every facet of the game beyond the scoring part with an every-minute, every-play, every-drill passion and drive that would place her, in those categories, in my top 1 percent for athletes I have had the pleasure to coach. Brie played almost every minute of every game that she could and her passion was an irreplaceable catalyst for our developing team. She was truly a great teammate.”
